Richard M. Hilmer

 

Richard M. Hilmer, loving husband, father, brother and friend died on Thursday, February 11, 2010. He was 71.

Born on October 9, 1938, Richard was the first of nine children born to Jacob and Charlotte Hilmer of Brook-field, WI. He earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Regis University in 1960 and took a job with Allis - Chalmers doing fuel cell research. In 1973, Richard earned his PhD in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin and accepted a position with DuPont as a research chemist, where he worked diligently until January 1994. He then founded dCode Software Tools, a self-run computer programming and consulting firm, which he operated until 1999.

 

A Fourth Degree member and past Grand Knight of Bishop Hyle Council of the Knights of Columbus, Richard and his beloved wife, Katharine, were active members of St. Catherine of Siena Parish.

 

Richard's survivors include his wife of 40 years, Katharine (Gallagher); their four children, Charlotte (Peter) Antal, John, Margaret and Amy; one grandchild, Walter Antal; four brothers, Robert, Russell, Roger and Randy; and three sisters, Kathy Schultz, Kris Knudsen and Karol Brandt. He will be sorely missed.
